In a cosy nock of Shepherd market in mayfair you'll find the newly open Shepherd Market Wine House.
Much unlike the other drinking hole offerings in the area the Shepherd Market Wine House (we're going to abbreviate that to SMWH from here on out) offers a no fuss, no frills, totally relaxed wine drinking and charcuterie munching service with a feeling of the Provence thrown in to boot.
If you are someone that things they would never feel comfortable going out drinking in Mayfair then the SMWH will change all that.
Don't be deceived though, the small and friendly bar has some trump cards up it's sleeves, not least the little sausage dog that's often part of the staff.... here you can find all sorts of wines, champagnes and proseccos. You can also try bottles by the glass courtesy of the oh-so-handy Coravin wine system that would usually cost you hundreds by the bottle and never be on a glass list.
This bar strikes a brilliant balance wether you know masses about wines or whether you would love to learn more. With a small area of outdoor seating, a perfectly put together selection of charcuterie and cheese boards and extremely knowledgeable staff SMWH is a winner and worth a visit for a long cosy night, a pre dinner drink or pre drink drink!

The Richmond and RAW are proud to present their first wine dinner with Marc Barriot from Clos-de-l’Origine on Sunday 17th May. The event, which is being held the week before the National Wine Fair, will include a four course meal with five paired wines chosen by Barricot, details below.
Marc Barricot is a qualified winemaker who decided to go solo in 2004, establishing a cellar in Maury in the foothills of the Pyrenees, on the edge of the Agly Valley. Having made wine conventionally for years, he turned his back on his past and opted instead for natural winemaking in his new cellar. He farms very old, dry farmed hillside vines using biodynamic methods. Marc will be on hand on the night to talk through his creations.
This event is organised in cooperation with Isabelle Legeron MW & RAW. The natural wine fair is taking place on the Sunday and Mondayfollowing the dinner.

Notting Hill’s three AA Rosette awarded restaurant, The New Angel, is hosting a unique and intimate dinner with the knowledgeable and talented son of famous French wine maker Joseph Janoueix.
Jean-Pierre Janoueix will celebrate the French wine region of Bordeaux as he takes diners on a journey across the Janoueix vineyards, which have been established since 1898. This journey through Bordeaux’s wines will be accompanied by an exquisite five course menu, which has been carefully designed by Chef Patron John Burton Race and Head Chef Stephen Humphries. Dishes have been creatively and meticulously paired with the wines to ensure taste buds are tantalised and satisfied.
Some of the wines include a Cotes-de-Castillion, a soft and rich Pomerol and a fruity Saint Emilion, which will perfectly compliment the decadent array of French cheeses that The New Angel has to offer. The evening will take diners on a journey through Bordeaux and will provide an insight like no other as diners discuss the wines they will taste with the very man responsible for their creation.
This exclusive five course menu, paired with 4 exceptional wines is £95 per head
