Velsvoir #2

A line of gentlemen in black stand striking against the light wood panelling behind. Looking smooth, suave and sophisticated, there's no mistaking the Velsvoir man.

Inside Mayfair's opulent Westbury Hotel, Velsvoir unveil 'Nightfall,' a collection celebrating the rich decadence and beauty of darkness. In this block colour palette, everything looks sleek, sharp and cohesive.

From afar these figures cast a mysterious silhouette, one tall shadow of a man. But up close, the eye is drawn to finer details revealing expert craftsmanship and taste.

There is a strong focus on texture. Fabrics are chosen to harmonise against each other yet create a distinct barrier between pieces. This is achieved through the use of matte and silky finishes.

Knitted polo-necks are worn under tailored blazers in subtle brocade patterns. Slim-fit trousers are styled with dapper monk-strap shoes. However, a contemporary fur lined cape provides a diversion from the traditional gentleman's look.

For this LFWM season, we are also treated to a first from the brand - their debut into nightwear. A full pin-stripe pyjama suit glimmers under the dim lights. A smart dressing gown is styled as a coat over shirt and trousers. And a luxuriously opulent smoking jacket offers something a little fancier.

'Nightfall' is an overall tempting collection, promising a life of extravagance for the wearer.

Among the bright Lights of Soho Velsvoir's spectacular LCM presentation was a vibrant affair, complete with a buzzing atmosphere and a cocktail party to boot. The London-Dubai brand has luxury at its heart and is on a mission to show the world how accessories can stamp true individuality onto any outfit. For AW 16, their message is to embrace the artistic and to revolutionise traditional fashion.

With the models mingling among the guests, the only difference between them and the rest of the room was the modernist geometric face paint that they sported. Velsvoir embodies artistic luxury, so to present a collection that becomes a work of art in its own right, epitomised the brand's core value of taking traditional ways of dressing and turning the rules upside down.

The collection, inspired by the timeless power dressing of the suit, also seemed to be influenced by the 19th and early 20th Century gentry style. As if, a time-gone-by had collided with modernity head on. In this respect, Velsvoir has managed to capture the art of the suit within the modern world and tweaked it to 21st century specifications.

The neon lights did not steal the show but worked to compliment the exquisite, fine details of Velsvoir's iconic accsessory pieces. Bow ties, ties and pocket squares all intend to take an outfit that step further and to ensure that each and every look is as unique as the one before. The colour palette made up of monochromes, bottle greens, deep navy blues and sepia tones added a sophisticated feel throughout the line.

With Velsvoir having recently branched out into full on bespoke tailoring, never has it been a greater time to indulge personal style in a artistic manner.

Velsvoir created a party vibe through and through their LCM presentation. The setting was the perfect space to channel the forward thinking along side the traditional dapperness of the suit. For party season '16, the message was as bright as the neon lights themselves: timeless luxury and cool, edgy modernity are a match made in menswear style heaven.

International luxury fashion brand, Velsvoir, is known for specialising in accessories: bow ties, pocket squares, ties and lapel braces. The label only started in 2012 and was voted Best Regional Menswear Designer by 2014. The brand is based between London and Dubai and was the creative concoction of three brothers who "accidentally" reinvented the bow tie.

The live presentation for their AW15 collection took place at London's Edition Hotel, in a chic, dimly lit bar. The venue reflected both the swanky, luxurious feel of the collection as well as the deep blue and black colour scheme. Models stood under spotlights on small sets made up of armchairs and glass tables with sophisticated floral arrangements by Yan Skates.

Set up in 2012, the brand has laid claim to the gap in the market for luxury neck accessories in London, as well as reaching the man-about-town in the ever evolving United Arab Emirates.

Having debuted at LCM for SS14, Velsvoir has since collaborated with our very own, home-grown, October House, as well as showcasing a partnership, the Man in Motion, with German tailor Patrick Hellmann, at LCM AW14.

With a wide and varied collection for SS15, Velsvoir incorporates black and white stripes, metallic silver and gold, black, ice blue and leopard-inspired prints accentuated by dapper grey and black suits and waistcoats. Adding some playfulness to proceedings, models faces were decorated in black lines and lashings of glitter, while Kristy Harper was behind the decks ensuring a pumping soundtrack to correspond with the vibrancy and eclecticism that Velsvoir unveiled here this evening.

In an exclusive chat with WJ, Talha Timol, discussed the trio’s presentation style, saying it was more organic and enjoyable for models to parade through the space, connecting with onlookers so that “guests can interact with their favourite models and feel and touch the latest collection for themselves.”
