Spring will see the launch of a brand new dining concept in Soho from the award-winning Tamarind Collection. Look forward to enchanting Indian cuisine in a stunning setting.

The heartbeat of any Indian home is its kitchen; the place where family and friends come together to talk, eat and relax. Inspired by this idea, Tamarind Kitchen will bring a convivial Indian dining experience to the heart of buzzy Soho, complete with sumptuous dishes that reimagine the award-winning cuisine of Tamarind Mayfair and tailor them to the Soho diner.

Tamarind Kitchen menus will present a stunning array of fish, meat, game and vegetarian dishes — many of which arrive fresh from the kitchen’s authentic Tandoor oven. Tantalising tastebuds from the moment you sit down, starter dishes include Makai Kachumber, a vibrant corn and vegetable salad lifted by a chat masala dressing and Karara Kekda, soft shell crab with potato salad and homemade pickles. The flavour explosion continues with some irresistible kababs, such as the Game Platter, which serves tandoor-cooked quail, duck and guinea fowl on a bed of vermicelli.

Mains appeal to all palates and include Guchchhee Kofta, morel mushroom and pea dumplings in a spiced creamy sauce; Hydrabadi Gosht, slow-cooked lamb in a browned onion sauce flavoured with Kashmiri chilli and a traditional South Indian Alappuzha Fish Curry with Kingfish and spiced with tamarind, mustard and curry leaves, all accompanied by a selection of Tamarind’s signature rice, breads and dips.

The 100-cover restaurant will span two floors, featuring a private dining room for up to twenty guests and a subterranean cocktail bar for late night drinking. Its interiors, designed by Russell Sage Studios, blend soulful touches (in keeping with the Indian kitchen concept) with the sophisticated — as befits the sister restaurant of the palatial Tamarind of Mayfair. And attention to detail has not been bypassed with the tabletop choices: each handpicked item reflects the modern diner’s appetite for simple, yet stylish elegance. Sourcing from four artisan producers - including Studio Mattes, a celebrated Belgium-based stoneware supplier – the plates have been carefully selected to show off the colours and curves of the forward- thinking Indian dishes

Set to be the destination of the spring, Tamarind Kitchen looks forward to welcoming diners to a rich and resplendent setting of quiet elegance to sample delicious, contemporary Indian dishes from the expertly crafted menus.

Throughout February, Soho favourite Ember Yard will be serving a special set lunch menu centered around the much loved Catalan delicacy of calcots.

Dishes will include Steamed and chargrilled calcots with crispy duck egg yolk, smoked piquillo and spiced habas fritas; Milk-braised lamb shoulder with buttifara, Arrocina beans and parsley aioli and Chargrilled blood orange carpaccio with Seville orange sorbet and basil.

Available on Saturday lunch and Sunday all day, the menu will change weekly and will be served alongside paired wines. Registered as a EU Protected Geographical Indication, these spring onion like vegetables are celebrated with hugely popular events throughout Spain and are becoming more and more popular in the UK.   And let's not forget the whole charred vegetable trend that's happening this year - these new menu items fit in nicely.

On Tuesday 1st December Shackfuyu will relaunch as a permanent fixture on the Soho dining scene, reopening its doors following extensive refurbishment. Originally opened in February this year as a pop-up restaurant, Shackfuyu returns after a successful nine months with a new look and menu.

Ross Shonhan and his team made the decision to shut up shop and renovate in order to create a comfortable and permanent venue. When it re-opens, diners can expect a brand new bar with marble counter seating for 12, a 16 seat sharing table, and an additional private dining area in the basement. The colour scheme will be significantly altered, replacing the distinctive green walls with dark grey, yet retaining flashes of green in the upholstery and wall tiles.

In order to relaunch with a bang, Ross and Head Chef Ben Hughes have created a new menu of Japanese yōshoku cuisine and drinking food served in Japan’s izakayas. New small dishes will include; Mylor shrimps with curry salt, USDA beef tartar and imo fries with shisho mayo. Larger sharing plates have been added, such as grilled partridge with chilli ponzu, wild Cornish seabass with orange miso and lamb neck fillet with kimchee tare. A selection of Shackfuyu’s signature dishes will be retained including favourites such as prawn toast masquerading as okonomiyaki, aubergine with four miso and bubu arare, Iberico pork pluma and the distinctive dessert kinako French toast with soft serve – one of London’s most instagrammed dishes of the year.

A menu of gua bao buns, similar to those served at sister restaurant Flesh & Buns, will be a new addition for lunch time. The buns will be served filled, rather than the DIY assembly experience, offering a quick lunch option. Priced from £5, the steamed bun menu will be set to satisfy Soho with fillings including fried chicken with kimchee, grilled salmon with orange miso, and crispy duck leg with plum soy.

In celebration of the relaunch Shackfuyu will be offering 50% off food from Tuesday 1st (dinner only) to Sunday 6th December. The new look Shackfuyu will be rocking and rolling in true Bone Daddies style, and this time it is here to stay.
