THE GALLERY
With Hackney Wick having one of the highest concentration of artists and collaborative studios in Europe, Number 90 invites some of the best to showcase their talents both inside and outside of the four-storey building. Exhibiting work from both locals and international artists, giving them the support and energy to push them into the spotlight, Charlie McFarley will launch the first monthly exhibition. Described by some as a creative saboteur, disrupting the wonderful world of children's cartoon art and forcing the viewer into a landscape of intricately painted nightmares that seem to smile back at you. Truly visceral in their impact the paintings reveal the troubled vision of adult life seen through a child's eye and a perfect first artist in residence at this new venue space.
Blend all of these elements together, stir and serve, and you have the recipe of this special weekend officially launching the venue and acting as the start of monthly Saturday events. Doors will open from 8PM till midnight on Thursday 6th March, 5pm till Midnight on Friday 7th March and 12pm till midnight on Saturday 8th. Entry is free for the whole weekend.
