Next generation utility-wear with an athletic vibe. Dumpty’s SS18 collection made functional, fashionable at LFW2017.

The Dumpty SS18 models stepped out with attitude on Monday morning, showcasing this to a pulsating electronic beat.

This unisex collection, used synthetic fabrics to create durable pieces which appear both functional and highly wearable, with playful cut-outs and asymmetric styling, giving the collection a 90’s kid edge.

White, black and orange provided a solid base to the outfits, while greens and greys occasionally dressed down the utility tone. Pink, a seasonal spring favourite, made a cheeky appearance, contrasted with a black, leather-look jacket to give the look a tougher aesthetic.

The incorporation of high sport socks and mint-green trainers gave the whole collection an athletic vibe, complemented by the slicked back hair and grungy bare-face styling. The casual added branding of “dumpty” stamped across the forehead of each model, an added quirk which spoke to the bold and mischievous personality of the brand.

Zips, Velcro and oversized pockets statemented the pieces, while accessories were alternatively worn with bun-bags fasted across the chest, their straps made from what looked like car seat-belts, an innovative supplement to the practical feel of the collection.

Aoise Tutty is a highly conceptual director, videographer and photographer who likes to document fashion in her own unique way. During London Fashion Week in September she filmed this wonderful video for WJ which explores the 'mood of the season.'

Wondering around the mammoth exhibition at Somerset House she recorded close up glimpses of the Spring / Summer 2014 collections - bold prints, textures, spikes of colours and materials are all seen flashing up against a dreamy soundtrack.

Designers captured include; Anne Sofie Madsen, E. Tautz, Felder Felder, Jena Theo, Lucas Nascimento, Simone Rocha and Zoe Jordan. However, tiny snippets of the garments are only ever focused on. A beautiful glimpse in to what lies ahead in fashion.

Orla Kiely is known for her kitsch and retro inspired designs, and the collection for SS14 took the 70's girl guide chic on safari.

Taking her inspiration from girl guides, brownies and Suzy Bishop, the collection presented a contrast of texture, embellishment and 70's inspired silhouettes

Playful tops are adorned with polka dot triangles, lions and stand out colour pockets compliment polka dot cropped trousers, pale blue cropped trousers.

Accessories were the stand out pieces of the collection, cute lion faces in canary yellow or bamboo brown.

The most striking part of the collection was a blood orange bamboo suit paired with an adorable panda face bag in pale pink and red.
