Pizza-Pilgrims-Forza-Win-06From Britain’s finest margherita and marinara, to crispy arancini and pizza fritta, new Pizzeria & Frigittoria brings the true taste of Naples to London

Just a year after opening its doors in Dean St, Soho, Pizza Pilgrims is serving up a second slice of authentic Neapolitan cuisine – with a brand new offering that takes its acclaimed cucina povera to the next level.

Opening in Kingly Court (just off Carnaby St) in late July, Pizza Pilgrims Pizzeria & Frigittoria will carry the simple, delicious range of pizzas – the Marinara, Margherita, Nduja and Portobello Mushroom & Truffle – that made the first pizzeria such a huge success, as well as fabulous new varieties, monthly specials and seasonal toppings.

Every pizza, lovingly made from dough that's been proved for 24-48 hours, topped with the finest, freshest Italian ingredients, and fired in a 500-degree celsius oven, is a testament to the dedication of Pizza Pilgrims' owners, Thom and James Elliot, and their determination to serve the very best – simply, deliciously, and honestly.

But it's the Frigittoria that will offer something truly new. Any visitor to Naples can't help but be overwhelmed by the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of this most extraordinary of cities. And it's impossible not to be wowed by the amazing variety of delicious fried specialities served up from pavement cafés, hole-in-the-wall takeways and food carts along the cobbled streets and noisy piazzas.

Pizza Pilgrims Pizzeria & Frigittoria is bringing this unique culinary tradition to London, with a range of genuine Neapolitan delicacies, from Arancini stuffed with slow-cooked ragu and unctuous, oozy mozzarella, to Pizza Fritta – fried calzones filled with sun-ripened tomato, napoli salami, mozzarrella, parmesan, ricotta and fragrant basil.

There'll be crispy potato and mortadella croquettes, delicate deep-fried courgette flowers, and irresistible melanzane and zucchini fritti – chips of aubergine and courgette in light, crispy batter.

As golden as the sun of the mezzogiorno and lighter than the mediterranean breeze, these delicious house specialities are the flavour of the real Naples – cooked with passion, and served with love.

But Pizza Pilgrims knows that just as Italian food is fresh, vibrant and healthy, it's also about indulgence. That's why the pudding selection features a constantly changing selection of Boca di Lupo’s Gelupo gelati – served by cone or cup – as well as Pizza Pilgrims’ signature dessert, the Nutella Pizza Ring.

And from the bar? Ice-cold shots of Pizza Pilgrims’ own Sohocello and Sohocello cocktails, craft beers from Lazio's Birra del Borgo (changing monthly), wines by the Nespoli winery in Emilia-Romagna, and Thom's personal selection of dangerous Neapolitan amari and digestivi.

For those merely wanting to drop in for a bracing daytime caffe, the new Pizzeria will be serving award-winning roasts by Hackney’s own Terrone Coffee Co, along with sfogliatelle (traditional Neapolitan pastries) and Gelupo gelati – served from a dedicated outdoor kiosk, beneath the stairs in Kingly Court.

The atmosphere promises to be as authentically Italian as the food, too. With table football, Nineties tunes on the sound system and arcade games inside – and an alfresco seating area where diners can take in the Carnaby passegiata.

Pizza Pilgrims Pizzeria & Frigittoria is the ultimate, unpretentious antidote to stuffy dining rooms and poncey cuisine. It's as raw and real as the food culture that inspired it. It's the perfect place to eat, drink, and savour la dolce vita this summer.
