You know how it is when you need a haircut or a beauty treatment and you want to know what's available in your area and how much it will cost?

Well the team from Rock Pamper Scissors decided to create an online service where you can pick the sort of treatment you want - haircut, colouring, eyelash extensions and hair extenstion and check out the options.

It's perfect for people who like to be spontaneous - you can look for an appointment for as soon possible or the same day you book.  And there are some great discounts available, with many salons offering special offers for first time visitors to the site or for students.

You'll be surprised at the money you can save by using Rock Pamper Scissors to book hair appointments online. I took a look around Rock Pamper Scissors to pick out some of the best deals. So here are three of the best hairdressers in London.

I found a cut and blow dry with a senior stylist at The Soho Salon in Carlisle Street for just £37.10 - a 30 per cent discount from the usual price of £53.00.

There are also great deals on beauty and pampering treatments. You can book a Ladies Vinylux full pedicure at The Covent Garden Salon in Endell Street for £31.50, a full 30 per cent below the usual price of £45.00.

I also found an excellent discount for massage. Body Essential, at Harrow Place, Shoreditch, currently has a full body massage for women on offer for just £45.60 - 20 per cent cheaper than the usual price of £57.00.

The site is easy to use, with photographs of each of the salons and a brief description of the services on offer. You can search according to price, or location, and it is easy to browse appointments and book online. If you want to know more about a particular salon you follow a link which takes you to a description of the business, a mission statement and tells you about the different sorts of treatments on offer.

The design of the site is clean, clear and simple to use and it has the odd little quirky entertaining touch. For instance if you are browsing hair and beauty treatments you can choose to search for the cheapest, for the most expensive, for the nearest = or if you are feeling mischievous - you can choose to search by "magic".

WJ Photographer Kaye Ford has been delving around behind the scenes to get in on the backstage action.

Angel Chen's punky line was complemented by every aspect of hair and makeup. Another dim memory of the 90s leaping back into fashion, temporary body art, was being applied everywhere from necks to eyebrows.

Eyes were rimmed in pink, reflecting a trend that has taken over Soho this week, spotted on street stylers and models alike. Even those who would be covered by Angel’s unusual pink headpieces were made up, expressing attitude from every pore, even if unseen.
