As money gets tighter the scammers seem to be adding more tricks to their bag. Yesterday we had a list of pick pocket ploys that was issued from the British Transport Police and today there is one for motorists to watch out for.
Flash for crash is a new fraudulent insurance scheme. You are waiting to come out onto a road and another driver coming down that road flashes you to say they are going to let you out. You drive out and the other car accelerates towards you causing a crash but making it look like your fault for pulling out as they have right of way. Later they deny flashing you. For non drivers, by flashing we mean flashing of headlights, not getting ones bits out, that really would cause a crash.
The people that cause the crash make false insurance claims for injuries incurred, making thousands of pounds at a time.
