Launched in 2013, Ethologie by Jasper Garvida is a brand centred around exquisite tailoring created to accentuate and flatter the female form. The AW16 catwalk took place at underground bar Foundation in Covent Garden.
The show was packed full as everyone squeezed round the limited show space, trying to get a good view of the runway. The plus side at the front of the crowd was an up close and personal view of the collection.
As the first model walked out, a geometric graphics theme was set with a patterned, monochrome, sequin mini dress paired with knee high boots and studded leather shoulder pads. A tough, futuristic and edgy feel.
Despite being an Autumn Winter collection, the models wore large shades, perhaps to shield their eyes from the metallic glare given off by their shining outfits. Those without iridescent clothing wore silvery shadow on their eyes instead. Hair was crimped, voluminous and tied up in a messy bun.
Knitwear played a large role within the collection, chunky, textured and oversized. Sometimes paired with leather, it felt contemporary and unconventional.
The finale consisted of a show-stopping peplum coat with lace inserts over a sheer lace dress - all in white.
The appeal of the clothes has attracted celebrity attention from the likes of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Little Mix, Pixie Lott, Jess Glynne and The Saturdays. Seen across red carpets all over the world, at events such as The Golden Globes and The Oscars, Ethologie is a fast growing brand to watch!
