The Lulu Liu show at Fashion Scout was an array of pink, silks and stunning prints which had the most feminine charm. Across the board, London Fashion Week shows have seen a return to a classic Spring/Summer aesthetic with lace, soft colours and muted hues seen in a number of key collections.
Backstage at the Lulu Liu show the models had a doe eyed, innocent feel with leaves woven into plaits and soft rose bud lips set off with white coated eyes. Pink was the main colour across the collection, contrasted with garments in block white – with the designer using oriental inspired prints and detailing such as kimono style collars, clearly influenced by the designer’s Chinese heritage. There were also bold tote bags and backpacks in metallics – giving a harder edge to the looks.
The show had a relaxed but energised feel to it and the highlight for me was seeing my model of the moment Alice French from First Model Management walking for the designer. Having recently styled her for The Quarterly and discovered how charming and versatile she is as a model, it was fantastic to see her bring energy and light to this already lovely show.
I predict great things for Lulu Liu and look forward to a very pretty Spring/Summer in 2014.
