In the almost pitch black Old Sorting Office the sound of violins and guitars set the scene for this truly unique Oliver Spencer A/W 15 collection. A band named ‘The Turbans’ who bring together the traditional near eastern/eastern-European styles and original composition with a modern twist, of course, open the show in a completely original way.
Inspired by the work of artist and sculptor David Nash, best known for his work in woods and natural surroundings, with this collection ‘the natural environment of his work is reflected through variety of fabrications, textures and tones.’ This brings us to the title of the collection - The Rough With the Smooth. Clean line and soft fabrics contrast with some textured pieces and hard silhouettes throughout. Clearly David Nash continued to influence through the colour palette with natural tones, charcoals, heavy greys and creams - with bright hues introduced in the floral prints featured.
Straight after the show we nipped backstage to have a quick chat with Oliver Spencer himself, and the most exciting thing he had to say? “More stores, more stores, more stores”, so make sure you’re keeping an eye out, they could be popping up anywhere!
