There are many options for outdoor and alfresco dining in London but the issue is that once the sun comes out you can barely get a look in when it comes to tables.
Somewhere with a little more reserve and somewhere that we have only come across ourselves recently is the Ritz Restaurant Terrace. Only open in the summer months the Ritz Restaurant Terrace sits overlooking Green Park and features a secluded terrace full of beautiful Italian mosaic floors and surrounded by ornate wrought iron balustrades adorned with vibrant floral boxes. With tables draped in the kind of crisp white linen that you have to put your sunglasses on for, you can give your eyes a rest from brightness under the vast parasols.
The menu of The Ritz Restaurant features classic French dishes created using the finest British seasonal ingredients, offering diners a selection of cuisine perfect for a splendid al fresco lunch. Guests can select the fresh flavours and subtle textures of dressed crab rolls with avocado and Charentais melon, or tender Var salmon with zesty and fresh lemon verbena and broad beans. Even the delicate desserts suit the season with a selection that includes sweet white chocolate mousse, fresh raspberries, fragrant basil sorbet and rich yoghurt sauce.
A three course menu is £45 a head so it’s not cheap by any means but go out of general dining hours and there is no reason why you can’t simply have a few drinks and a starter whilst soaking up the great (rather posh) outdoors.
Alternatively arrive early and have a continental breakfast as a more reasonable £29 with all the trimmings.
