This June, 12-18, Merchant Square, Paddington is running a unique free workout experience, Floating Fitness, as part of their ongoing health & wellbeing campaign. The week long event will take advantage of the newly opened Floating Pocket Park, hosting classes al-fresco in the garden of this floating park on the Grand Union Canal.

Designed to fit around your schedule, the classes will take place throughout the day as well as before and after work. A special series of candlelight yoga classes are also available for those looking to unwind after work under the stars

To complement their programme of world-class music, woodland-theatre, forest parties, talks and famed chef line-up, Wilderness have curated a tranquil realm of Wellbeing, a festival within a festival.

In their seventh year, Wilderness brings new talent and the most prestigious Wellbeing partners. Think masterclasses from eminent yoga leaders, workshops from renowned health experts and specially designed programmes from celebrated centres of excellence.

Nestled close to the soothing sounds of the emerald swimming lakes is The Sanctuary. A shanti space for winding down away from the bustle of festival life and exploring new practices. Whether it’s trying Hot Yoga for the first time with Fierce Grace, or getting balletic with Xtend Barre, or a luxurious therapy with Neal’s Yard Remedies The Sanctuary will provide something for what ails you.

The Sanctuary garden will become home to healers, yogis, and holistic practitioners from a broad range of backgrounds and will offer more traditional classes for Hatha, Slow Flow, VInyasa, and Ashtanga, with plenty of options for all skill levels.

Acclaimed therapists from Neals Yard Remedies will offer their signature facials, deep tissue, and aromatherapy massage, which will leave you revitalised and ready to explore the wonders of Wilderness.

New for 2017, Carl Faure, the founder of renowned school London yoga studio Stretch, and Rocket Yoga’s Marcus Veda will be offering classes specially catered to men who might feel afraid to give Yoga a try. Adam Husler, will be hosting a workshop that aims to shed light on ‘The Real Reason Men are Terrible at Yoga’.

Cate Miller, founder and owner of Xtend Barre London, is at the forefront of the Barre movement. Her world-famous workout combines dance, ballet and pilates. At Wilderness, Cate will bring the classic Xtend Barre technique to Cornbury Park for a workshop sure to get your heart racing.

Further exciting highlights include partnerships with exceptional institutions such as The Life Centre, Sangye Yoga School, The Special Yoga Centre and Oxford’s Inner Space, each offering a unique style and experience.

Those looking to explore something new can try their hand at styles less familiar, including Hip Hop Yoga with Julie Montagu, super energetic and dynamic flow yoga to the more legendary hip hop tracks, to get your heart racing.

Nine Lives will be offering Acro Yoga, a workshop that seamlessly blends acrobatics and yoga. The blissful lake will host Paddleboard Yoga. Friends of Wilderness and Internationally acclaimed dance company Rambert will impart wisdom on the formal approach to movement and flow with their Movement Workshop.

Settled on the banks of the lake, The Wilderness Lakeside Spa is set to return for 2017. The Lakeside Spa has inspired many imitators, and remains the most stunning spot to relaxing a wood-fired hot tub by the clearest of lakes.

Wilderness provides a rare opportunity to experience the joys of a thriving arts community in resplendent surroundings, whilst cultivating your inner self.

"Where else can you have a fabulous massage and wallow in a hot tub in a field while a rocking' great festival goes off in the background?"

The world’s only international personal training business is running a Valentine’s Day speed dating event at three of its UK gyms on Tuesday 14th February, where visitors can take part in an intense circuit workout and spend two minutes with prospective dates at each station. Tickets are £20, with proceeds going to the World Heart Foundation and after the workout, all participants will be invited to go for dinner as a group at a local restaurant.

The world’s only international personal training business, Ultimate Performance Fitness, is running a speed dating circuit workout at three of its UK gyms this Valentine’s Day at 7pm.

The class will involve 10 high-intensity workout stations, where 10 men and 10 women can work out in couples for two minutes before moving on to the next exercise and the next person.

Men and women will rotate around the circuit in opposite directions so they will get to workout with a new partner at every station.

Members of the public can register their interest at UP Fitness Manchester, City or Mayfair here.

Participants will be put through their paces by highly-qualified personal trainers, whilst getting to know one another. Afterwards, the group will have the opportunity to use UP Fitness’s shower facilities and dress up to go to a top local restaurant and continue the evening.

The circuit workout will include standing shoulder press, battle ropes, dumbbell squats and barbell hip raises, hanging leg raises, planks and an intense stint on the Watt Bike. However, the workout will be scaled to cater to all abilities.

Tickets are £20 and are on a first-come-first-served basis. All proceeds will be donated to the World Heart Foundation.

The Book Club in Shoreditch is launching a new monthly cultural event series in a bid to educate millennials in everything that school Sex Ed missed out (i.e. most of the fun stuff!).

Jenna Mason, Arts and Culture Events programmer for The Book Club said:
It's been years since our generation had “the talk”. And even for those of us lucky enough to have had more than the cursory video or mechanical (and fairly awkward) biology lesson, so much is and was ignored, excluded or just not Show-And-Tell appropriate.’

‘In Sex Ed for Grown Ups, we’ll be covering subjects like pleasure positivity, LGBTQIA* issues, sex work, masculinity and BDSM - all presented by scientists, artists, historians and educators through talks, workshops, film and performance. Your sex life will thank you!’

Upcoming events:

Kissing, Cuddling, and Pegging Oh My: What millennial men get up to on a Friday night?

Date: Tuesday 21st February 2017, 7.15-11pm

Tickets

From bromances to pegging, in this provocative talk sociologist Professor Eric Anderson will introduce his ‘Inclusive Masculinity Theory’ and explain how and why masculinities are softening among young men.  Whereas homosexuality was highly stigmatized in the 1980s, decreasing homophobia has made bisexuality more visible and socially legitimate today. And happily, research shows that most of today's young men understand that sexuality is complicated. Being less concerned about being thought gay among peers, this culture allows young men to show feminized masculinities and to be considerably less rigid in their approach to heterosexuality – whether that’s kissing and cuddling other males, enjoying their own anal sexual experiences or having stronger emotional relationships with their dude friends.

BDSM for Beginners

Date: Monday 13th March 2017, 7pm- 8.30pm

Tickets

Curious about the world of BDSM but don’t quite know where to start? Join award winning professional Dominant, performance artist and sex educator Master Dominic for this introductory workshop in kink, and gain confidence in the BDSM essentials. Topics will include consent and negotiation, roles, types of play, equipment and more. Bring your questions, a notebook and an open mind! Fully clothed, open and inclusive. And have no fear - there will be no audience participation! All welcome, suitable for singles and couples/thruples+

Pleasure Positivity with Ladies Come First

Date: Tuesday 16 May 7:30pm – 9pm

With just a third of women experiencing orgasm during sex, it’s time to break the pleasure taboo and create more egalitarian sexual connections!

Sophie Holloway from Ladies Come First is here to fill the pleasure gap in sex education, particularly from a female perspective. In this talk, find out how a lack of information, deep rooted gender inequality and society’s shame around expressive female sexuality is standing between women and their pleasure, and unlock the tools to counteract this. Knowledge is Queen, so come and learn some basic principles and tricks to understand and increase pleasure. Through Sophie’s Guide to the Female Orgasm and some special take-home activities (cunnilingus and colouring-in, anyone?), find out what could happen if we brought female pleasure out of the shadows…
