The Cat and Mutton, on the corner of Broadway market, has closed and will remain so until March when it’s taken over by new management.

The 300-year old pub has been sold by the current owners who bought it in 2003, the Hackney Citizen has confirmed.

Although little is known about the new owners, it will still be a pub and will undergo a complete refurbishment in the next few months.

It was announced via Twitter and the owners said: “So after 10 years we say goodbye, the Cat was sold last week and will shut from tomorrow.

“Massive thanks to the many who made it what it was.”
