Food5Recently opened, Caphe Pho is serving fresh and healthy Vietnamese cuisine. After 6 years in Bermondsey (trading as Caphe House) where they sold approximately 130,000 Pho, the family needed a new larger restaurant to accommodate the growing demands.

The new Smithfield restaurant has 86 covers and trade is approximately divided into 40% dine in and 60% takeaway.

The interior design comprises of 3 regions influenced by Ha Long Bay; Mekong Delta River and Hoi An. The décor has many different types of feature lights, colonial yellow walls, reclaimed timber cladding and a gallery of Vietnamese daily life Art.

At lunch Caphe Pho has a very affordable menu to dine in or to take away including pho, Vietnamese baguettes, rice and noodle dishes with an array of Vietnamese fillings. Others dishes include rolls, steam buns, salads and chargrill skewers. In the evening a more comprehensive A La Carte menu presents dishes like Spicy Coconut Chicken and Crispy Sea-Bass in Lemongrass, Salt & Chili.

The signature dish is of course Pho -  an aromatic, nutritious and delicious rice noodle soup. It’s made with fragrant spices, rice noodles, bean sprouts, ginger, onions, coriander, cilantro, sweet basil, lemon and chill. The stock (beef, chicken or vegetable) is made from a family recipe and takes 12 hours of simmering to allow the stock to retain all its goodness and develop the subtle distinctive taste and aroma.

Traditional Vietnamese iced coffee is the signature soft drink and the Caphe Spirit - homemade rice spirit served with mint, lime & soda – is the signature alcoholic drink.

Owner and founder Trung says “Vietnamese cuisine has grown in popularity in the UK recently – and rightly so. The public are more knowledgeable about food from the country and we want to build on that – showing people how delicious and healthy Vietnamese cuisine is and also educate them on the traditions and culture.”
