There are burgers, there are steaks and now London has the battle of the Buffalo Wings.
You’ll find many places in London that do buffalo wings but they won’t all do great ones. If you are wondering why they are called buffalo wings then wonder no further – they were invented in 1964 at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY. They were so popular that they spread quickly across the United States and Canada.
Sticky Wings : 40 Brick Lane, London
Sticky Wings has not been open for long but it’s already gathering fans. They do straight up wings – very much in the American Style we have all come to know and love. At the minute there is now a huge amount of signage around the place so it might be hard to spot but seek it out and you’ll be happy you went to the effort. They currently open for lunch and at 6pm for dinner.
The Orange Buffalo : The Old Truman Brewery, Ely’s Yard, E1 6QL
OUtdoor wing dining and alternative sauce. Orange Buffalo serve wings that are covered in spicy hand-made orange sauces, served with celery sticks and blue cheese dip. How could you go wrong? There is also a lunch special consisting of six wings, fries or onion rings and a drink for £6.50
Wishbone : Unit 12 Market Row, Brixton Market, London SW9 8BR
With a range of different flavours of wing to choose from and a drinks menu that just includes sours (on the alcoholic cocktail side of things) Wishbone in Brixton is the place to go if you want a good wing range. With an ever evolving wing menu it’s worth giving this place a few visits and make sure you have some deep fried Mac & Cheese with your wings.
Burger & Shake : 47 Marchmont Street, WC1N 1AP
Newly opened Burger and Shake is the ideal place if you want standard but perfectly done wings. The wings are reportedly a decent size and there are some great shakes to wash them down with.
