We love that more places are embracing our quintessentially British pass time of taking tea. We love that London has embraced the afternoon tea and all it entails. We have found however that the prices are getting rather steep so we have gone in search of some more affordable afternoon tea options in the capital, all under £20.

Grand Imperial, 101 Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1W 0SJ

A different type of tea is on offer here, a Chinese afternoon tea with specially created dim sum featuring both savoury and unusual rich chocolate dim sum creations.

Greenwich Fan Museum,12 Crooms Hill, Greenwich, London, SE10 8ER

This tea is a very simple two scones, jam and cream, two cakes, pot of tea affair but it's not to be sniffed at. Cheap, lovely scones and a beautiful setting make this the perfect 'skinny tea' option.

The Tea Rooms 153-155 Stoke Newington Church Street, London, N16 0UH

For a homely no nonsense afternoon tea head ot the Tea Rooms in Stoke Newington. You can gaze upon knick knacks and pretend you are in a village somewhere whilst you scoff dainty finger sandwiches, miniature cakes and pastries and fruity scones.

Cost: £15 or £17 including a glass of prosecco.

Bake-a-boo, 86 Mill Lane, NW6 1NL

If cupcakes are your thing then Boos afternoon tea includes a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with jam and fresh cream, Boo’s vanilla cupcakes, Chocolate dipped strawberries, Mini brownies and Teapot shaped vanilla biscuits. All this is served on tiered cake stands with a refreshing pot of tea! Plus Tea is unlimited throughout

Beas of bloomsbury afternoon teas

Bea's offer a casual, no-frills take on the Afternoon Tea, it includes freshly baked scone with clotted cream and jam, a cupcake of the Day, a selection of mini meringues, marshmallows, brownies, blondies and killer brownies, a selection of savoury baguettes and a pot of tea by Jing Tea Company

Gallery Mess, Duke of York Square

For a great price you can sit in this plush restaurant, or outdoors if you prefer, right next to the Saatchi Gallery and smash some cakes into your face. The Mess afternoon tea includes sandwiches, cakes, tea and warm scones.
