Who would have thought that a tire brand would do so much for photography and the female form? The Pirelli calendar, started by the tire brand celebrates it’s 50th anniversary this year.
For 50 years the calendar has been showcasing brilliant creativity, photographers, models and femininity. But strangely enough this year it has chosen to keep it’s ladies covered up in a move that suits the current ongoing questioning surrounding the portrayal of women in media.
The images used for this years calendar are from an unpublished shoot intended for 1986 edition. It’s great that Pirelli is showing off how sexy and beautiful these women can be with their clothes on as well as off. Having said that, Pirelli has always been a beacon for a classy offering of nakedness that manages to celebrate the female form in an artistic way rather than an objectifying one.
